AirAsia increases Baggage Pricing

AirAsia increases baggage pricing as of 31st Aug 2013

All International AirAsia (AK, FD, QZ, PQ, Z2) and AirAsia X (D7) Flights will no longer be offering the 15kg and 35kg checked baggage and sports equipment fee tier effective 0.01 GMT +8 on 31st August 2013. All AirAsia Domestic Flights will maintain the 15kg checked baggage tier, however the 35kg checked baggage and sports equipment fee will be removed.

AirAsia Domestic Flights include flights within Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Japan (Until 31st October 2013 for Japan). This means that the available checked baggage and sports equipment fee tiers are;

  • International Flights – 20, 25, 30 and 40kg
  • Domestic Flights – 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40kg

For guests who have booked their checked baggage and sports equipment fee for 15kg or 35kg before the 31st August 2013 will have their baggage upgraded to 20kg and 40kg respectively for free.

AirAsia has increased the price of checked baggage. The new price is as follow:

AirAsia International New Pre-Booked Baggage Fee
PBAB (20 kg) – RM44
PBAC (25 kg) – RM50
PBAE (35 kg) – RM120
PBAF (40 kg) – RM180
or equivalents in foreign currency if departure is outside Malaysia.

There is no more 15kg/35kg checked baggage allowance effective 31 August 2013 as confirmed by AirAsia Sdn. Bhd.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines has increased carry-on baggage allowance from 5kg to 7kg, free of charge. Checked baggage for Economy Class remains at 30kg and for Business Class 40kg.
